Corinthians' Anna Dillon in action against Rushen United

CORINTHIANS AFC started their defence of the Warehouse Fitness Ladies Only Gym-sponsored women’s league with a 10-0 win over Rushen United at Croit Lowey on Sunday.

Leading 6-0 at the break, Stephanie Hall (3), Jade Burden (2), Kiera Morgan, Sarah O’Reilly, Anna Dillon and Dominique Moran found the net for the Whites.

Keen to wrestle the championship title away from their neighbours, Douglas Royal also got their campaign off to a winning start with a 9-0 win over Castletown at the Stadium.

Leading 0-6 at the break, Donna Shimmin (5), Sarah Breen, Bekkie Colquitt, Megan Loughran, and Zoe Hawley scored for the Ballafletcher outfit.

The matches between Laxey v Colby and Gymnasium v Peel were scratched because of the weather.

A full round-up of all the women’s football will appear in this week’s Manx Independent.
