Bacchas’ under-16 teams both travelled to Liverpool at the weekend to play their remaining pool games in the north leagues of the English Hockey’s U16 Championship .

Both secured crucial wins which now sees them through to the regional finals of the competition.

Going in to these matches both teams knew that three points would see them through and that securing wins over the Liverpool Sefton teams in the final matches of the day was vital .

Early in the day, the boys suffered a 8-0 loss to a very talented Liverpool Neston team, who had beaten Liverpool Sefton in the first match of the day 28-0.

The boys started their game against Liverpool Sefton nervously and although controlling the game only led 4-3 at half-time.

They took to the pitch for the second half with renewed vigour and put eight goals past Liverpool Sefton without reply.

This secured them the three points which saw them progress out of the pool .

The girls went into their final fixture determined not to make the slow start that had plagued them in earlier games .

The girls made no mistake in this must-win match and put two goals away in the first 10 minutes.

They did not let up and seized all the opportunities presented to them, which was the difference between the two teams .

They took an emphatic 10-0 win which like the boys sees them progress out of the pool .

Both Bacchas team now eagerly await the North finals on March 1.
