Bacchas thrash Town to stay top of the league

IOMA Group Bacchas A maintained their lead at the top of the men’s premier hockey division with a 12-1 victory over Celton Manx Castletown A at the NSC on Saturday.

Alex Bell was on target no fewer than five times for the Tromode side, while Andy Whiting weighed in with four. There was also a hat-trick for Andrew Vernon-Browne.

Paul Kelly was the only Castletown player to find the net, converting from the penalty spot.

Paragon Valkyrs A ensured they remain in title contention with a 7-1 victory over Manx Telecom Vikings B at Peel’s QEII pitch. Gareth Morris and Greg Miller netted two goals apiece with single strikes from Russ Miller, Chris Caldwell and Juan Corlett.

Vikings got on the scoresheet through an own goal.

Manx Telecom Vikings A emerged the right side of a seven-goal scoreline to claim both points from their match with IOMA Group Bacchas B. Goals from Conor Byrne, Dave Millward, Alex Birch and Andy Harding proved enough for Vikings. Bacchas replied through Chris Bass and two from Alex Bell.

CM Skye Ramsey A scored seven to no reply from Paragon Valkyrs B. James Aitchison and Nat Smith netted two apiece, with Matt Robertson, Chris Wells and Thomas Tsitsos adding single strikes.

Wi-Manx Men’s Division One

HQ Harlequins A maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an 8-1 victory over Manx Telecom Vikings C. Pete Nuttall scored a hat-trick, Elliott Henson and Tony Mansell netted twice each, while Sam Lancaster rounded off the scoring.

Vikings replied through Mickey Collins.

CM Skye Ramsey B maintained their good run of form with victory over IOMA Group Bacchas Colts. Dan Stevenson netted all three goals for the northerners, while John Pearson scored both for the Tromode side.

Celton Manx Castletown B claimed both points from their match with IOMA Group Bacchas C thanks to a goal from Miles Ashworth.

Wi-Manx Women’s Premier Division

Manx Telecom Vikings A maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 7-1 victory over Celton Manx Castletown A. Kim Carney and Jen Dougal netted two apiece, with Kirsty Cooper, Sarah Breen and Sarah Blackman adding single strikes.

Dani Kelly netted the only goal for Castletown.

Paragon Valkyrs A continued their good run of form with a 4-1 success over IOMA Group Bacchas B. Andrea Kneen netted a hat-trick, with Tamsyn Cleaveley adding a further goal.

Sam Franklin was the only Bacchas player to find the net.

IOMA Group Bacchas A claimed both points on offer from their match with Paragon Valkyrs B. Goals from Cat Hodgson and Sharon Pope proved enough for the Tromode side.

CM Skye Ramsey A made it two wins from two with a 4-1 victory over Celton Manx Castletown B. Rebecca Jacobs gave Castletown the lead before goals from Amy Stoutt, Julie Chesterton and two from Vicki Garner sealed the points for Ramsey.

Wi-Manx Women’s Division One

HQ Harlequins maintained their position at the top of women’s division one with a 4-3 victory over Celton Manx Castletown C at the NSC.

Goals from Sue Taylor, Sue Jackson, Sandra Wrigley and Colleen Scott proved enough for Harlequins.

Castletown replied through two from Lauren Stewart and a single goal from Ellie Gilson.

Paragon Valkyrs C maintained their good run of form with a 7-0 victory over Manx Telecom Vikings C. Carol Whitelegg and Rebecca Tully netted two apiece, with singles from Kaitlin Shimmin and Donna Harrison, plus an own goal rounding off the scoring.

CM Skye Ramsey B were victorious over Fearless Saracens thanks to goals from Amie Shutt and Hannah Grubb.

Manx Telecom Vikings B were 3-2 victors over IOMA Group Bacchas C. A goal from Breesha Foxton and two from Jan Carney saw Vikings claim the points. Bacchas replied through Jo Hicks and Sophie Hudson.
