Wi-Manx Mixed Premier Division

POINTS were shared in the match of the day at the National Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon when White House Valkyrs A met IoMA Bacchas A.

Valkyrs skipper Greg Miller found the net for the westerners, while his opposite number Jamie Brown was on target for the Tromode side.

Celton Manx Celts returned to winning ways with a 5-0 victory over White House Valkyrs B at Queen Elizabeth II High School pitch. Christian Steriopulous netted a hat-trick for Celts and was joined on the scoresheet by Don Stewart and Sven Lindeque.

IoMA Bacchas B emerged the right side of a five goal scoreline to claim victory over Collins Stewart Ramsey A. One from David Whiting and two goals from Tony Bentley-Roberts proved enough for the Bacchas second string, while Matt Robertson and Ben Curtis found the net for the northerners.

Wi-Manx Mixed Division One

Saracens Sabres maintained their position at the top of the Wi-Manx Mixed Division One with a 6-1 victory over HQ Harlequins A. Steve Cottier grabbed the lion’s share of the goals for Saracens, netting a hat-trick. He was joined on the scoresheet by Dave Horan with two and Steve Jackson with a single strike. Peter Foxton was the only Harlequins player to find the net.

Celton Manx Cammags ensured their unbeaten record remained intact with a 3-1 victory over White House Valkyrs C. Paul Kelly netted twice for the Castletown side, with Amy Dawson adding a third. Grahame Shimmin scored the only goal for Valkyrs.

Manx Telecom Vikings C continued their impressive run of form with victory over Collins Stewart Ravens. Richard Gelder emerged top marksman, scoring a hat-trick, with John Emery claiming a single goal.

The spoils were shared between Celton Manx Cushags and IoMA Bacchas C. Graeme Brown gave Cushags a first half lead before goals from Peter Vernon-Browne and Juan Quine swung the advantage to the Tromode side. Brown was on hand again with his second of the game to level the game and neither side was able to find a winning goal.

Wi-Manx Mixed Division Two

Manx Telecom Vikings D maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with an 8-1 victory over HQ Harlequins B at Castle Rushen on Saturday afternoon. Ian Duggua, Dani Kelly and Hannah Clague all netted two goals apiece with Danny Hammil and James Lowey adding single strikes. David Smith was the only Harlequins player to find the net.

Celton Manx Southerners ensured they remain in touch with the league leaders when securing a 6-0 victory over Collins Stewart Rookies. Miles Ashworth scored a hat-trick for Southerners, Jack Sleight netted twice and Duncan Watterson rounded off the scoring with a single strike.

Celton Manx Cosney emerged as narrow victors in their match with Saracens Sharks. Cosney claimed the match with a penalty goal.

EHA’s Women’s Vase

Manx Telecom Vikings successful run in the English Hockey Association’s Women’s Vase competition continued on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Stratford in Liverpool.

The Wi-Manx Premier Division champions will now face Newcastle in the tournament’s quarter-finals next month as Kim Carney’s side aim to better their semi-final run of last season.
