Valkyrs A begin Premier Division title defence with tough tie against Vikings
PARAGON Valkyrs A begin the defence of their Mixed Premier Division title when they meet Manx Telecom Vikings A at the NSC on Saturday afternoon.
Greg Miller’s Valkyrs side will be keen to claim a first victory of the season as they will know that an early defeat will put a serious dent in their title aspirations.
Neil Crowe’s Vikings team will be hoping to firmly establish themselves as title contenders with a good mix of young players like Danny Hammill and Alex Cain alongside the more experienced heads of Crowe, Andy Harding and Zoe Carney. The latter side will be looking to cause an upset here.
Wi-Manx Mixed Division One
Last season’s runners-up Manx Telecom Vikings C start their campaign with a meeting against Celton Manx Cushags Colts with the aim of going one better this season and claiming the title.
Dani Kelly has stepped up to captain Vikings and will be hoping she can replicate her previous captaining successes here.
Jon Allen’s Cushags Colts are a side made up almost entirely from last season’s winning under-16s and will be determined to make a good impression in the higher division.
They have youth on their side but might struggle against more experienced opponents.
Wi-Manx Mixed Division Two
Celton Manx Southerners will be looking to make it two wins from two when they meet IoMA Group Bacchas D in the lunchtime fixture at Ramsey Grammar School.
Rebecca Jacobs’s Southerners side made a good start to their season with victory over Vikings last weekend while opponents Bacchas suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Rookies.
Both will be determined to come out on top in this fixture in what promises to be a close game.
Wi-Manx Under-16s League
Celton Manx Castletown meet CM Skye Rascals in the early fixture at Castle Rushen on Saturday.
Jon Allen will be hoping his young Castletown side can maintain last season’s good form and once again be challenging for the silverware.
Opponents Rascals will be aiming to cause an upset and return north with both points on offer.
