Elliot Baxter finished 17th in the men’s Commonwealth Games mountain bike cross-country race at Cathkin Braes on Tuesday afternoon.
In mixed conditions, the specially prepared course proved very difficult and 15 of the 33 starters were lapped at least once (most two or three times) and were therefore regarded as non-finishers.
But former professional and one-time British junior champion Baxter proved strong to the finish in what was his second Commonwealth Games appearance - his first being at the Manchester event in 2002.
The New Zealand pair of Anton Cooper and Samuel Gaze took gold and silver ahead of Daniel McConnell of Australia.
Baxter was 14min 40sec down on the winner at the finish of the 37 kilometre event at the finish.
