A total of 27 pairs made the pilgrimage to Onchan Bowling Club last week to participate in the Commissioners Cup, the only any combination doubles competition in the Isle of Man.
Home greeners Phil Kerruish and David Bradford were in spectacular form all day and extinguished the final challenge of Mark Kneen and Neil Withers with relative ease to lift the trophy with a 21-10 victory.
The eventual winners headed straight for the corners and dominated the game from that point on, with Bradford leading well and Kerruish piling on the pressure coming at the back.
In the semi-finals they were in equally as impressive form, dispatching Chas and Viv Grills 21-8, while Kneen and Withers had to work hard to find a way past Janet and Robert Monk 21-17 at the same stage.
Losing out in the quarter-finals were Maureen Payne and Brian Woodall, Mike Hargraves and Ian Kissack, Ken and Linda Clarke and Jordan Cain and Bob Clarke.
At the conclusion of the competition Onchan president Kevin Quirk introduced Rob Callister of Onchan Commissioners who presented the prizes.
