ALL was right with the world on Saturday morning at Peel Golf Club - light winds, sunshine, birds singing, true, reasonably quick greens and no reason not to play good golf.
The event was a stableford with nearly 120 competitors taking part. Steve Lester (5) was sixth with 37 points, leftie Peter Hepworth (16) was fifth with 38 and Phil Christian (5) had a 71 gross to give him 39 for fourth. Matt Williamson (10) took third with a countback 39 while Jonathan Crookall-Nixon (10) was second with 40 but the winner with a fine 41 was Graham Burrow (14).
A disastrous seven on the easy 12th hole did not put him off and a level-par gross for the last five gave him the win.
The entry list for the club’s popular Valentines Am-Am and St Patrick’s Day events goes up this week so book early!
