Cavendish and Sells scoop Sports Awards' top prizes
TOUR de France star Mark Cavendish and Manx Grand Prix winner Carolynn Sells claimed the top awards at last night's Isle of Man Sports Awards.
The gala ceremony at the Villa Marina brought many of the Island's sportsmen and women together to celebrate their achievements during 2009.
Claiming the Isle of Man Bank-sponsored evening's other prizes were:
Under-21 sportsman: Grant Halsall (swimming); U21 Sportswoman: Olivia Rawlinson (swimming); Ambassador: Conor Cummins (motorcycling); Special achievement: Janice Quirk (Parish Walk); Disability sportsperson: Paul Clucas (snoeshoe running); Club official: Peter Kinnish (Laxey FC); Coach Peter Mumford (Archery); Team: Vagabonds' women's rugby team; Lifetime achievement: Ron Ronan (football, badminton, tennis, race walking).
