Douglas face Dukinfield
2E2 DOUGLAS Rugby Club welcome Dukinfield to Port-e-Chee this weekend for another fixture in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division Two.
This game should be a good game for the spectators with both teams up at the top of the table.
Dukinfield are third behind Douglas by three points and will want to overturn the home team to climb up above them in the standings.
The Manx side have a few late fitness tests this week as it seems the Collegiate match has taken its toll on a few muscles this week.
Glyn Hooson-Owen, Daryn Thompson and Rob Todd have all picked up niggly injuries and skipper Scott Goodall will no doubt be hoping they can shake them off before the weekend.
Prop Ben Pote travels back to fill in at tight-head and should Todd not make it then the more than capable Dan Creer is available to step in at loosehead.
James Lidgett is unavailable this week but Carl Markl-Ferns is back from his adventures and will slot back in at hooker.
With the second team not having a fixture there are plenty of able deputies waiting in the the shadows for their chance in the first team having seen Carl Conroy and Liam King take their chances.
Dukinfield are a very physical side and will not be pushovers thanks to their well-organised pack and a fly half who can kick the corners ably.
Douglas were a little bit scrappy last week and will be looking to improve in their attack this week.
The Manx side will have to match their opponents from Greater Manchester up front and keep their forwards quiet if they are to get the go-forward ball that the backs feed off.
Defensively the Port-e-Chee side have been relatively sound this season but this is going to be a good battle up front and Douglas will have to put bodies on the line in defence and in attack.
If Douglas play like they know they can with the structure and intensity that was prevalent in the first few weeks of the season then they will confident of the victory, however, don’t expect Dukinfield to be coming to Port-e-chee just for the air miles.
The visitors turned over Ormskirk last week and appear to be a force in the league this year so Douglas will have to have their wits about them and show the opposition respect if they want the points come Saturday tea-time.
Kick off is 3pm at Port-e-Chee and all are encouraged to attend and support the lads in their quest for victory.
