THE third annual Festive SCS Handicap Relay takes place at Ballannette, Lonan on Boxing Day.
The event, which took over from the Millennium Way Relay in 2010, proved very popular in it’s first two years.
The course around Ballannette estate is approximately 3.5 miles long and the relay consists of teams of four runners with those on stages one and four doing two laps of the course each and those on laps two and three doing one lap of the course each.
The slower teams set off first, with the faster teams (in theory) last away. All handicaps are based upon estimated times for 10km for each runner.
There is an extensive prize list as well as refreshments and excellent facilities available to athletes and spectators on the day.
Thanks are extended to Stewart Clague Services for their continued support of the event. Teams are asked to get organised early and send their entries to Andy Fox, 61 Brunswick Road, Douglas, IM2 3NW.
Entry forms and details are available on www.manxathetics.com with entries needing to be handed in by Saturday, December 8.
THE Lancashire Cross-Country Championships take place at Witton Park, Blackburn on Saturday, January 5.
Athletes wishing to take part should contact Andy Fox on 626415 or email email@example.com
While this is a Manx Harriers trip, athletes from other clubs are welcome to join the group should space be available. In recent years, Manx competitors have been very successful in the championships.
