Island Games gold medallist Tom Gandy has been selected to represent England Golf in the Chiberta Grand Prix and the Biarritz Cup in France.
While a select few were aware of the call-up the for England A squad member Tom Gandy - as the phone call was made to him while in Jersey for the Games - it was agreed no release would be made until officially posted on the England Golf website.
This has now been forthcoming and the 23-year-old will be based in France for the next two weeks as he, along with Alfie Plant and Ben Amor, play in two 72-hole competitions which have team events incorporated.
The competitions are the Chiberta Grand Prix between July 9-12 and the Biarritz Cup a week later.
Having viewed Gandy’s game first hand over the past week on Jersey, I like everyone else was impressed with the amount of power he can now generate throughout his game.
Like Tom Harris, it is not difficult to spot how top technical preparation has been implemented into all aspects of the game, on and off the course.
On behalf once again of island golf, we send our very best wishes for a successful couple of weeks for Tom Gandy in France and we will follow progress with interest and genuine pride in your achievements so far, with much, much more to come I’m sure.
