MANX athlete Harriet Pryke is the new North of England Senior Women’s 400m champion after a decisive victory at the Sheffield EIS Indoor Athletics arena on Saturday.
In her first race of 2012, Harriet was a clear winner in the third heat in a steady time of 58.60 seconds, some three seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
After a quick massage to ease a niggling hamstring problem, she dominated the final from the outside lane, finishing strong in a winning time of 56.08s, just outside her indoor PB set last year, but some 1.5 seconds ahead of the second place athlete, Nisha Desai from Trafford AC.
Harriet would like to thank Isle of Man Sport Aid and Martin Bullock Manxsport for their assistance, and looks forward to returning to Sheffield mid-February for the UK Indoor Track and Field Championship.
