Jock Waddington retains Parish Walk title

JOCK Waddington has taken victory in this year's 85-mile Clerical Medical Parish Walk, repeating his success in last year's event.

Janice Quirk finished second to take the women's title, 12 minutes behind the winner, while Mark Hempsall was third and Sue Biggart fourth.

More than 1,500 competitors lined up as the event got under way at the National Sports Centre at 8am on Saturday morning.
