Joy for Fellas as Slammers’ run ends

Have your say

Hoping to maintain their remarkable winning streak, Slammers had their work cut out against the Fellas and their 12-point lead in this handicapped Fun Cup game on Thursday evening.

The battle was on in the first quarter with both teams scoring 14 points, which allowed Fellas to retain their starting 12-point lead going into the second quarter.

Continuing through the game, the score was neck-and-neck and emotions were running high. Lesley Patterson had another good game for Slammers proving her to be a strong component of both their offence and defence.

Spectators of this nail-biting game could be forgiven for their feelings of déjà vu in the last quarter of this clash of the titans with just two points between them and only 10 seconds left on the clock.

With Slammers down and everything to lose, Fellas played smart with careful ball-handling and were able to sink one of their free throws with just seconds remaining to win the game by three points.

It will be interesting to see how these two teams fair on an even playing field in their next league game - will Slammers gain their revenge?
