THE pick of the games in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield this Saturday would appear to be at Mooragh Park where bottom side Ramsey B will be looking to land their first win of the season against Emerging Nomads.

The latter second string started well with a win against Castletown.

They were then just edged out against Western Vikings before getting something of a thumping last Saturday when they were somewhat depleted.

A bout of ‘man flu’ sweeping the south of the island may well cause them further problems this week.

Ramsey B have had a week off to lick their wounds after a rugby lesson from Southern Nomads a fortnight ago.

Jim Lantry will be looking to get things back on track and the return of former Ramsey B stalwart Chris Melvin may just be the tonic he’s looking for.

With early Shield leaders Vagabonds B’s match with Castletown postponed, the final game of the day is at King William’s College.

There Southern Nomads will be looking to continue business as usual after they made their second consecutive Cheshire Plate final by winning away at Parkonians last Saturday.

Opponents Western Vikings are still finding their feet in their comeback season and this game will be a massive step up for them from their previous two outings. I sense a Nomads’ win here.
