A SMALL band of 21 entrants managed to escape Christmas shopping and take part in the latest Manx Petroleum-sponsored Outdoor Winter League Bowling Club round-robin.

It was played as one group of triples, with the winners being Jo Smith, Rita Callister and Steve Moore.

A roll-up decided the runners-up, with Derek Allen, Stephen Bradley and Peter Karran getting the better of Derek Clarke, Peter Clague and David Turner.

There will be one more round-robin session to end 2011 at 1pm this Saturday, December 31. Ahead of this, may I take the opportunity to wish all bowlers a Happy New Year.
