Northerners win big in Manx Shield clash with Nomads B

RAMSEY B got their first Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield victory in fine style on Saturday beating Emerging Nomads 97-14 at Mooragh Park.

Steve Cleator led the way for Ramsey with a hat-trick of tries. There were also two apiece for Andy Cleator, Craig Harlick and Orry Watterson, with single scores from Matty Kelly, Garry Vernon, Tom Moss, Mark Oldfield, Chris Hardisty and Dave Harding. Matty Kelly added five conversions and Tom Moss four. Nomads’ consolation tries came from Mark O’Brien and Jack Beard with two conversions from Pat Gandy.

In the other Shimmin Wilson Shield game, Southern Nomads went top of the table for the first time this season.

The try machine that is Gerard Landels picked up another hat-trick. Skipper Harry Brereton and stand-in skipper Rob Keelan picked up two each with single scores coming from Duncan Miller and Jimmy Cubbon. Miller also kicked seven conversions as Western Vikings’ comeback came to a shuddering halt.
