AFTER losing at home to Southport last weekend, Ramsey will be aiming to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Sefton in South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two.

It will be a big ask, however, as Sefton are three from three so far and sit on top of the table having dropped just one point out of a maximum possible 15.

Davide Mazzone’s team will be disappointed after last week’s defeat. Southport used the wind wisely and led by 11 points at half-time.

Ramsey closed the gap to within a single point but failed to put the visitors away when they were on the rack. A different approach will definitely be needed this weekend.

Sefton’s wins have been a mixed bag. They’ve beaten new boys Liverpool Collegiate and struggling Oldershaw, however, they also put Dukinfield away a couple of weeks ago. Last season Sefton also did the double over Ramsey, winning 0-8 in awful conditions at the Mooragh and then 38-32 in an epic encounter on Merseyside.

All eyes at the Mooragh will be on giant second rower Max Singer as he nurses himself back to fitness following a pre-season shoulder injury.

His presence in the second row will be a massive boost for the team. Steve Cleator may also be back this week after missing the Southport game. Chris King was in good form for the Ramsey B team last week and he may just have done enough to feature in the selectors’ thoughts.

Whatever the side, this will be a tough trip and with the Merseyside pitches getting a liberal watering from the weather gods this week, it will need a big effort from everyone.
