Richard Connolly competition

THE Richard Connolly Memorial mixed team bowls competition is now in full flow and some great bowling in recent weeks has confirmed the semi-final line-up.

Holders South Ramsey progressed into the semi-finals after a good showing that saw them defeat Onchan A by 27 points and keep their title defence alive. Port St Mary A narrowly won the battle of the south, edging past Castletown A by a mere three points after two legs and 18 games of bowls. You really couldn’t see a closer match up and the scores of both games illustrate how truly great this encounter was.

Noble’s Mixed won the Douglas derby, putting the team from the Villa out after a determined double-legged performance. They took a strong win at home to set them up for a memorable victory and were able to hang on in the second leg to ensure their name goes into the hat for the draw for the last four. North Ramsey A find themselves as favourites to cause an upset and possibly steal the crown from cross-town rivals South Ramsey after a dominant display to beat Onchan B by 163 points.
