Niamh Robinson qualified for this evening’s semi-final of the women’s 50-metre backstroke with a new senior island record and personal best of 31.03 seconds on Monday morning at Tollcross.
She finished fifth in her heat and 15th overall out of 35 swimmers in the heats.
Alex Bregazzi won his heat with a massive pb of 25.08 in the men’s 50m freestyle, but it was not enough to take him through to the semis.
Tom Bielich’s 24.51 was also beneath the cut.
Grant Halsall returned to 200m backstroke to finish fourth in his heat with 2m 05.30s, while Charlotte Atkinson was also out of luck in the women’s 200m butterfly, recording 2:16.64 for 16th overall out of 24. Only the top eight will swim this evening.
