Top 10 for Cal and Rea in MotoGP

Island residents finish fourth and seventh in Aragon

ISLAND residents Cal Crutchlow and Jonathan Rea both claimed impressive top-10 finishes at the Aragon MotoGP in Spain on Sunday.

Tech 3 Yamaha rider Crutchlow began the race in third spot on the grid but was unlucky not to start from pole after being held up by a backmarker during Saturday’s qualifying.

Despite dropping a couple of places early on in the 23-lap race round the 3.15 mile track in the north-east of Spain, Cal was quickly back in the mix for third place along with team-mate Andrea Dovizioso and Ben Spies.

The Ramsey resident managed to get past Spies but missed out on third by just one tenth of second.

Racing in place of the injured Casey Stoner, Rea enjoyed a solid race and eventually finished an impressive seventh. That results means it’s the first time since the British Grand Prix at Donington in 1993 that there have been two Britons in the top seven.
