Top two meet in Shield

Ballafletcher is the place to be for the big game in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield this Saturday where the two pre-season favourites Vagabonds B and PDMS Southern Nomads go head-to-head.

The two met in round one at King William’s College and drew 10-10 and with things as tight in the Shield standings, as they currently are, this game could be very significant.

Neither team have played for a couple of weeks now for a variety of reasons and both therefore could be lacking a little bit of sharpness.

Nomads, however, probably have the slightly better pedigree this season and might just sneak a win.

Western Vikings will be aiming to get back to winning ways with their first trip to the Mooragh Park to take on Ramsey B. Jim Lantry’s side ran in a big score against Emerging Nomads a couple of weeks ago, but slipped up at Castletown last week.

Vikings are continuing to build their skill levels and may just be able to get a result at the Mooragh.

The final game of the round is at Poulsom Park where Castletown host Douglas B.

Town were impressive last Saturday and may just edge this one if Douglas are in any way distracted by their first team game against Ramsey.
