Triathlon test on Saturday

ENTRIES remain open for the Microgaming-sponsored Isle of Man Triathlon Championships based at Mooragh Park, Ramsey on Sunday, September 2.

There are standard distance, sprint distance and team categories, with the event starting at 9.30am. Teams can choose two distance options - standard (swim 1500m, cycle 40km, run 10km); sprint (750m, 20km, 5km).

The swim element of this event is open water in Mooragh lake, while the cycle goes out to Bride and Andreas. The run is in and around the park area.

Course maps can be found on the website www.manxtriclub.com together with entry forms. Entries to June Collister, Highfield, Mount Gawne Road, Port St. Mary no later than August 29 please.

l Manx Tri Club is also holding a novice triathlon day this Saturday, August 25 starting at 8am to give members and non-members an opportunity to run through an open water triathlon event prior to the standard and sprint distance triathlons the following weekend.

The format (not a race) will be a 750m open water swim pier to pier in Ramsey Bay, then a group ride over one lap of the triathlon cycle course, a 5km group run round the run course, followed by a regroup at Ramsey Swimming Pool café for tea and cake. All welcome.
