Vital point for Ramsey

RAMSEY picked up a very useful losing bonus point away at high flying Ormskirk in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division Two on Saturday.

Skipper Davide Mazzone led his team from the front with his first try of the season and, when Fintan Cummins converted, Ramsey led 7-0.

Ormskirk hit back but despite scoring a good try from a Ramsey lineout lapse, they were unable to build on it and, after 20 minutes, Ramsey still led 7-5.

But by half-time the hosts were in front and they extended the lead to 22-7 before a late Ramsey fightback grabbed the vital bonus point.

Skipper Mazzone doubled his tally for the match and the season with his second try of the game and a late penalty from Matty Kelly saw them finish within seven for the extra point.
