Webster nets a hat-trick for men's hockey leaders Valkyrs A

VALKYRS A maintained their lead at the top of the Premier Division with victory over Vikings B at Peel on Saturday afternoon.

Ollie Webster led the way, netting a hat-trick, and further goals were added courtesy of Greg Miller, Neil Jacobs, Gareth Morris and Dave Hall.

An improved second half performance by Vikings A ensured they claimed victory over Castletown A. Goals from Steve Crowe, Andy Harding, Gerry Quinn and Conor Byrne, plus two from Simon Foster, ensured they claimed both points on offer.

Honours ended even between Harlequins and Valkyrs B as the westerners came from behind to claim a share of the points at the National Sports Centre. Goals from Tony Mansell and Peter Foxton gave Harlequins the lead before similar scores from Vic Ferns and Oli Lockley drew the two sides level with neither side able to find the decisive goal.

Men's Division One

Ramsey A stretched their lead at the top of Division One with a 6-1 victory over Vikings C at the Grammar School pitch.

Matt Robertson netted the lion's share of the goals with a hat-trick, while further were added by Simon Renton, Nat Smith and Sam Moffat. Mickey Collins was the only Vikings player to find the net.

Saracens A claimed victory over Valkyrs C as they ensured they would play in the top half of the division. Four goals from Steve Cottier and further strikes from Anton Bolton and Keith Watterson proved enough for Saracens. Tim Groves netted the only goal for Valkyrs.

Bacchas C handed Castletown B their first defeat of the season with a 6-1 victory. Alex Bell grabbed four goals and Mark Parsons hit a brace, while Steve Babb netted the only Castletown goal.

The latter club's C team claimed their first victory of the season when they defeated Bacchas D. Goals from Graham Brown and Craig Liddell ensured John Faragher's side took both points.

Women's Premier Division

Vikings A continued their dominance in the Women's Premier Division with a 6-0 victory over Castletown A. Captain Kim Carney scored a hat-trick, Delta Williams netted two and Karen Faragher added a further strike.

Valkyrs A maintained the pressure on Vikings with a 3-2 victory over Bacchas A at the NSC. Goals from Andrea Kneen, Ashley Hall and Hannah Hessleton proved enough for the westerners, while Sharon Pope and Cat Cox netted the goals for the Tromode side.

Women's Division One

Bacchas B maintained their unbeaten record in Division One with a 1-0 victory over Valkyrs B, Emma Killip netting the only goal of the game.

Castletown B emerged victorious from the derby match with Castletown C. Eleanor Gawne gave the second string a first half lead while two further goals from Jess Botha in the second half ensured Amy Dawson's Castletown side sealed the win.

Women's Division Two

Vikings B returned to winning ways with a 5-1 victory over Vikings C. Dani Kelly led the way with two goals, added to by Marie Goosen, Kerri Williams and Jan Carney. Alice Ash netted the only goal for Vikings C.

Ramsey B maintained their winning streak with a 5-1 victory over Saracens A. Single goals from Alex Callow, Rosin Quinn and Hannah Grubb, plus two from Sophie Leaton proved enough for the northerners. Steph Cottier netted the only goal for Saracens A.

Valkyrs C emerged victorious from their match with Bacchas C. Goals from Kaya Teare, Ann Groves and Aalish Burden ensured the westerners claimed both points on offer, Chloe Duchars netting the only goal for the Tromode side.
