Women's under-21 hockey team heads to Blackpool

THE Isle of Man will be competing in the Northern Counties Regional Under-21 Women's Hockey tournament in Blackpool this Sunday.

Four counties are involved this year and they are Cumbria, Lancashire, Central Lancs and Cheshire.

Three of last year's squad are now ineligible to participate while two others are unavailable because of university commitments, giving a chance for several new players to get involved.

These include Chloe Lace, Emma Killip, Zoe Brown, Libby Quine, Sammy Callaghan and Claire-Louise Lace who was previously in the 2007 squad.

Zo Shimmin will captain the team with Helen Thomas as vice-captain. As Donna Harrison is currently touring in Australia the management team welcomes Dee Gimbert to the team.

The North U21 women's development and performance squad selectors will be scouting players to be invited to attend additional training and possible selection to play against Wales and Scotland next year.

The squad in full: Kerry Lockwood, Poppy Walker and Chloe Lace (all (Valkyrs), Louise Corkill, Emma Killip, Zo Brown, Helen Thomas and Claire-Louise Lace (Bacchas), Leanne Cracknell (Ramsey), Libby Quine, Voirrey Holmes and Delta Williams (Vikings), Zo Shimmin, Nicci Cain, Sammy Callaghan and Katie Tinkler (Castletown).
