Cal runs out of fuel

RAMSEY resident Cal Crutchlow’s luck failed him in the closing stages of Sunday’s Japanese MotoGP.

After spending most of the race in third place with another podium beckoning, he was displaced by Alvaro Bautista with only a handfull of laps remaining.

He closed the gap but on the final lap he, but had a fuel issue with his Monster Tech 3 Yamaha and had to park his bike at the side of the track.

The race was ultimatley won by Dani Pedrosa with Jorge Lorenzo second and Alvaro Bautista claiming the last spot on the podium.

A disappointed Crutchlow can take lots of positives from the race having qualified an impressive third and having recorded third quickest lap of the the race in a lap time of 1 minute 45.907 seconds.

The 26-year-old also managed to keep his team mate Andrea Dovizio behind him and was the second quickest Yamaha all weekend.

Cruchlow, who has now dropped to seventh in the championship standings, must bounce back in time for this weekend’s race in Sepang, Malaysia.
