Cummins and Kneen in action at Ulster GP

CONOR Cummins and Dan Kneen will lead the Manx charge at this weekend’s 90th Ulster Grand Prix.

Cummins heads to the 7.4-mile Dundrod Circuit near Belfast having claimed fourth and fifth on the big Tyco Suzuki at last week’s Armoy Road Races.

The Ramsey man, who was forced to sit out the majority of this year’s TT because of a wrist injury suffered at the North West 200, was also clocked as the fastest through the County Antrim meeting’s speed trap at 157.021mph.

Cummins and Kneen, who will be making his comeback from a back injury suffered at this year’s TT, will be joined at the McKinstry Skip Hire sponsored-meet by among others eight-time UGP winner Guy Martin, Manx Kiwi Bruce Anstey, in-form favourite Michael Dunlop and Ryan Farquhar.

Not taking part are King of the Mountain John McGuinness and Cameron Donald who will be on World Endurance Championship duty in Germany with the Honda TT Legends team.

Also missing from the grid will be Ian Hutchinson who is sidelined until 2013 after he required further surgery on his injured leg.

Practising began on Wednesday afternoon and continues all day Thursday.

Racing gets under way at 9.30am on Saturday morning.
