CONOR Cummins has confirmed that he will take part in Friday’s PokerStar Senior TT race after managing to overcome a persistent hand injury.
The Ramsey Rocket has been forced to watch the races from the sidelines thus far in order to let his hand recover, following a collision with Gary Johnson at the North West 200 recently.
Daily trips to the hyperbaric chamber and regular physiotherapy sessions have enabled the Manxman to recover in time to make his 2012 debut in Friday’s showpiece event.
Conor took part in Wednesday’s senior practice session and, despite the poor conditions around the course, he was able to post a lap of 125mph. Speaking afterwards, he said: ‘It has been a long week not racing and I have been frustrated, but I’ve been here before and I know what it’s like to deal with being injured and having problems.
‘You can’t beat being in a racing situation and that’s what I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I woke up this morning and the hand is so much better and for the first time I can actually see the bones the swelling has gone down so much.’
