Clive Padgett’s Valvoline-sponsored team is making a two-pronged attack on the F1 Classic TT with Dan Kneen joining last year’s winner Bruce Anstey in the race on Monday, August 31.
Kneen will be on a 1989 750cc Yamaha OW01, formerly campaigned by Rob McElnea in the early part of the 1989 season.
McElnea rode it to third and fourth places in the Hungarian round of that year’s World Superbike Championship.
Anstey will again be astride the 1992 YZR500 Grand Prix Yamaha machine upon which he set a new lap record of 123.894mph from a standing start last year.
The team opted for a conservative set-up with the lightweight GP bike last year to ensure it withstood the rigours of the Mountain Course, but Anstey believes the bike is capable of matching the fastest Supersport TT lap speeds of around 127-128mph.
