A squad of 14 island footballers are heading to Morzine, France next week to take part in a 12-team international tournament being held at 1,500m above sea level.
The competition is the European Mountain Village Championships, where the intrepid Manx are representing England.
Player-manager Gary Christian said: ‘The tournament is aimed at teams between the 7-11 tiers of the national league system so is a very high level.
‘Obviously we do not meet this criteria but our invite to represent England follows on from our trip last year to Gspon, Switzerland to take on the Swiss national mountain village team.
‘Unfortunately that game ended up in a narrow 9-1 loss but we made many friends and connections and learned a great deal about how to play at altitude and on a smaller pitch.
‘On June 3 we take on Germany (SV Saig) and Russia (LFL Krasnaya Polyana). ‘The games are eight-a-side and take place on a three-quarter sized pitch and last 20 minutes each way. We then play our final group game on June 4 against Sweden (FF Wollmars).’
The full squad is: Neil Cullington, Andy Garrett, Phil Jones, Gary Christian (player/manager), Alex Yates, Kenny Diack, Adam Hayes, Conor Kennan, Darryl Haslett, Richard Plumley, Alan Adesalu, Russ Lewin, Fraser Vaughan and Mike Stringer.
