Dungannon man claims third victory of the week in Classic Superbike MGP

RYAN Farquhar and Roy Richardson won their ninth respective Manx Grand Prix titles on Friday afternoon.

Farquhar picked up his third win of the week on the 1983 Suzuki F1 in the Classic Racer Classic Superbike race, while Richardson took the honours in the concurrently run Junior Post Classic contest.

TT star Farquhar enjoyed an exciting tussle with Mark Buckley at the top of the field before Buckley was forced to retire on the fourth and last lap at Kerrowmoar.

Other pre-race favourite Michael Dunlop set off at a blistering pace before his engine blew up on his first trip over the Mountain forcing him out.

Buckley’s late retirement meant Crosby’s John Barton took second place more four minutes 41 seconds behind Farquhar. Barton held off the attentions of Mick Godfrey, the latter finishing third just six seconds down on the Manx TT riders’ liason officer. Fourth went to Andy Lovett with Ken Davis and Manxman David Madsen-Mygdal completing the top six.

In the Junior Post Classic, Blackpool man Richardson won by 42 seconds from Castletown’s Chris Palmer. A further minute and 10 seconds down was Stuart Garton in third, Barry Davidson and Philip McGurk slotting in fourth and fifth.
