Mansfield brothers Ben and Tom Birchall won Saturday afternoon’s delayed Sure Sidecar TT.

The LCR Honda pair, who retired when leading last Saturday’s opening Sidecar race after setting a new lap record, took victory in the three-lap race by 38.784 seconds from race one winners and overall sidecar champions John Holden and Andy Winkle. Rivals Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle were forced to pull out at Ballig on the final lap when in second to end a disappointing week for the island duo after they failed to start the first race.

Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance came home third ahead of Manx pair Karl Bennett and Lee Cain who claimed their best Mountain Course finish of fourth.

Matt Dix and Shaun Parker and Steve and Matty Ramsden completed the top six.

A delighted Ben Birchall said after the race that was delayed for three and a quarter hours because of mist: ‘I’m thrilled and honoured to win another TT. I was wary of what happened in the first race and I was a bit nervous and jittery on lap one. I knew what pace we could run and got us back to it. I can’t thank the team enough.’
