New league season starts this weekend

THE Isle of Man Swimming Association’s new league season gets under way this weekend with the first of the five meets starting at 5.55pm on Saturday at the NSC.

Over the course of the five competitions swimmers from the nine and unders up to the seniors vying for places on the NatWest Island Games team will have a chance to compete over all the competition distances on all four strokes.

Highlights of the first meet will be Commonwealth Youth Games swimmers Laura Kinley and Charlotte Atkinson.

Kinley will be competing in the 100m breaststroke, for which she holds the island record at 1 minute 10.12 seconds, while Atkinson will be looking to lower her island record of 2m 3.31s for the 200m freestyle.

The remaining league match dates are as follows: October 6, October 27, November 17 and January 19.
