Vikings face Castletown

TRIUMPHANT RETURN: Western Vikings Tony Grundy (left) gets to grips with Emerging Nomads Andy Robinson during Vikings 17-27 win at KWC

TRIUMPHANT RETURN: Western Vikings Tony Grundy (left) gets to grips with Emerging Nomads Andy Robinson during Vikings 17-27 win at KWC

Western Vikings versus Castletown is the eye-catching game in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield this Saturday.

Vikings were outstanding last weekend in their comeback game and played a hard, gutsy brand of rugby and they thoroughly deserved their win over Emerging Nomads.

As Nomads had beaten Castletown a week earlier, the formbook strongly suggests that Vikings could pull off a second win as many weeks.

However, Town have proven to be tough competitors over the years and they won’t be as generous as Nomads were especially when they had a numerical advantage. I expect a close game at QEII.

In the other Shield fixture, Emerging Nomads visit a Vagabonds B side who blew Douglas B away last Saturday.

Ross Jones, Leigh Kennaugh, Andy Pease, Steve Mercer, Phil Moore and Jamie Cooke all made the scoresheet for Vagas and if they can field that line-up again this weekend they will prove a mighty challenge for Nomads.
