The Manx Model Boat Club is holding a fun event at the Silverdale boating lake on Sunday, starting at noon and running through the afternoon.
The event is based on the ‘trawler races’, with rules created by Roy Watterson of the Model Club, based on those of the full-scale trawler races.
Roy is a retired fishing boat skipper and took part in several such races at Port St Mary.
This is the second model boat time tria”, the first was in 2012, and organisers say it should prove very exciting.
The object is for competitors to predict their time about a course laid around buoys and the nearest to his or her time loses the fewest points, so wins.
There are also prizes for the best-dressed boat and even better, best dressed skipper.
The event is free to watch and visitors are welcome to go along.
However, any person wishing to participate in the competitions should, for insurance purposes, be a member of the club.
The event will start on Silverdale boating lake at noon and will continue until around 15:30pm. If the weather is bad the competition may be postponed till another date.
