Get stuck into second helpings

Green Day

Dos

The ambitious trio of recordings being put out by Green Day continues this week.

First there was Uno!, now there is Dos! Loud and in your face as you’d expect from a Green Day album, and it gives fans their second dose of new material in a couple of months – with the prospect of Tre!, the third of the trilogy, coming in January.

The first single to be taken from Dos! Is Stray Heart, a nice sounding track that has elements of their punky-pop style and also a blend of classic rock.

While their debut album made a splash in 1994, it was their stratospheric hit American Idiot in 2004 that really made their name.

Popularity has never escaped them since, and this quirky, loud and energetic series of albums will all prove their artistic value.

There are not many bands that could pull this off and maintain sales as they did it, but Uno! was an instant number 2 hit in the album chart and Dos! looks like going the same way.

If you’ve missed out so far or you want to wait a little longer, they’ll all be available as a box set trilogy, which is out there to pre-order now.

Deftones

Koi No Yokan

Grammy-winning alternative rock band Deftones have released their seventh studio album.

Koi No Yokan was recorded in Los Angeles and continues their unique sound, building on a solid reputation that started with their 1994 debut Adrenaline.

Continually crossing genres, there’s plenty of variation on the new album.

Front man Chino Moreno said of the album and their sound: ‘Obviously, we’re an aggressive band. Not the heaviest, but there’s a lot of attack. But there’s also this lush beauty that flows within everything that we do, and that’s my favourite part of the band. To me, it’s the epitome of what the Deftones do.’

Cave Painting
