Caitlin Rose

The Stand-in

You were in good company if you fell in love with Caitlin Rose’s debut back in 2010.

Great songwriting and melodic country sounds rightly earned attention, and you can rest assured that there are more wonderful country tracks on this great follow up.

Now aged 25, Rose is having a great time of it, recently appearing at several festivals and scooping a series of great reviews and awards.

If you’re into your country music, this album is well worth checking out, from the emotional Golden Boy to the epic Only A Clown and the nod to musicals in Pink Champagne with its wonderful pedal steel.

A neat album set to reinstate her as Queen of Country.

Emilia Mitiku

I Belong To You

Back in1999, Emilia Mitiku had a hit single that sold four and a half million copies. But if you don’t remember the name, you’re forgiven because back them she was known as Emilia Rydberg.

The single was Big Big World, a huge hit that sent her soaring towards stardom.

But today’s Emilia is a very different person, and her forthcoming album a very different sound.

Lead single You’re Not Right, for me, has been on the premium BBC Radio 2 playlist and positive reviews are rightly flooding in for this songstress.

And she has a more mature head on her shoulders this time round.

She said: ‘Today there is so much music around that if you’re going to ask for people’s time you have to be honest.’
