Young musicians involved with the Soundcheck project have a recording base for the first time.
A recording studio was formally opened at the Youth Arts Centre, in Kensington Road, Douglas, on Tuesday by Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood. He is pictured receiving instruction on playing the drums by youth worker Jenni Smith.
Soundcheck is approaching its 20th year and operates in Douglas, Peel, Ramsey and Castletown, offering young people aged 11 to 19 rehearsal space, instrument use, PA equipment, advice and support. The studio will be available for Soundcheck acts to record their music and release CDs in their own right using the Soundcheck record label.
The project plans a compilation CD featuring some of the young musicians who are involved at present. MW131001 (10)
