The finalists in the Isle of Man Newspapers Young Photographer Of The Year competition have been selected.

Launched in February, the popular Lloyds Bank-sponsored event attracted a phenomenal total of 846 entries over seven categories.

The newsroom was swiftly put to work, with journalists and photographers helping to whittle down their choices at the initial selection stage.

Lloyds Bank representatives Peter Reid and Lucy Felton then worked alongside Sally-Ann Maiden, who organised the competition for Isle of Man Newspapers, to choose the top three or four in each category.

Letters have been sent out to invite all the finalists, and their families, to a prizegiving event at the Manx Museum in Douglas on Wednesday, July 9.

Prizes will include cups for each category winner, a photography workshop, and the two overall winners will get to photograph the red carpet premiere of musical Sunset Boulevard, which is on at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas during August.
