THE Villa Marina’s comedy nights continue tomorrow (Friday) with the visit of stand-up acts Frankie Allen and Tony Roscoe.

Both comedians will take to the stage with decades of experience in the laughter game.

Frankie Allen is Liverpool born and bred, and a professional for more than 25 years.

His quick mind and off the cuff remarks are the key to his humour.

He made his name playing around the club scene in the north of England, which was followed with national exposure on the TV series The Comedians, a show that launched the mainstream careers of so many acts throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

His act isn’t exactly clean, peppered with colourful language and reliant on a good humoured audience being able to take a joke.

On people taking offence, Frankie quipped in his show:

‘I have to be careful, I’m fed up getting filled in with this act. Last year four fellas jumped on me, I knocked two of them out cold. I believe they were off school for a fortnight.’

Frankie was also a winner of Bob Monkhouse’s Opportunity Knocks, and co-hosted Central Television’s Live Programme.

Further afield he has entertained military troops in Germany, the Gulf and The Falkland Islands.

These days Frankie concentrates on the after dinner market, and sporting functions where his popularity has rapidly grown.

The second act of the night is Tony Roscoe, who has also been entertaining for more than 25 years.

Another purveyor of scouse wit and wisdom, he started at an early age fronting various showbands, and it was during this that he realised he had a natural talent to make people laugh.

The chirpy Liverpudlian has developed this talent in to the very funny comedy show that he tours with today, which includes musicmanship and zany sketches.

Visual comedy, one liners, ad libs, traditional gags and a bizarre frog sketch are key elements to his act. Tony has now really established himself as a favourite at sports dinner evenings, comedy nights, golf clubs and corporate events all over the UK and abroad.

Tickets are £10. Book by calling the ticket hotline on 600555, visit the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal in Douglas, the Villa Marina reception or book online at www.villagaiety.com

The show is for over 18s only.
