A MULTI-instrumentalist from Byron Bay in Australia is heading to the Island to play two gigs early next month.
Tristan O'Meara will be performing at the Studio Theatre at Ballakermeen High School on Tuesday, December 1, and the Outback in Douglas the following night.

Tristan, who is in his mid 20s, has been writing music and playing guitars since he was 11 years old.

Leaving home and school at the age of 14, he started busking on the streets and performed his first pub gig at just 15 years old.
Over the years he's developed into a self-taught multi instrumentalist with unique performances from his selection of didgeridoos which he collects and crafts himself from Australian native bushland eucalyptus.
He also plays six string acoustic and lap steel slide guitar, six string tenor ukulele, blues harmonicas, Native American flute and sings of loves lost and found, lessons learnt and issues that are close to him.

His styles slip between folk blues and roots riffs, to reggae and soft ballads, then back into some raw dirty blues grooves along with the odd instrumental didgeridoo, flute or guitar piece thrown in and melodies on his unique Hawaiian made six string tenor ukulele.

Tristan has headlined the opening night on the Isle of Wight international didgeridoo festival and toured Switzerland which included a performance at the famous Montreux Jazz Festival. He has released one full length live studio album Live@shed9 recorded in Australia.
His influences include Tom Waits, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, John Butler, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lang and many more.

Tristan said: 'I've never been much good at anything else or enjoyed anything in my life as much as playing music and hitching rides down a highway, so I guess I'll just have to stick with this and hope for the best.'

He has been described by his peers, fans and friends alike as 'an extremely passionate performer who takes his listeners on a journey through his own and others experiences, through many different genres of music in a performance that will hold you 'til the end and wanting more.'

He is being brought to the Island by Mark Armstrong of TalisMann Promotions, supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council.
