THE successes of the Manx music scene are set to be featured in a radio documentary.
The programme is being put together by Christy DeHaven and Dave Armstrong of DAM Productions who recorded some of the acts involved on Sunday.

It proved to be an excellent afternoon of music and fun for those involved and video footage of the performances will feature on video-sharing website YouTube.

Christy explained: 'The main plan is to put together an hour-long radio documentary, with the aim of promoting the Isle of Man music scene and to highlight its recent success stories such as Back Door Slam, Sam Barks, On A Friday, Uber Room and the blues festival and to show the incredible diversity and wealth of music talent we have here.'

Christy will be giving a disc of the programme to a friend who works for the BBC and she has been keeping her informed about the Isle of Man music scene over the past few years.

Sunday saw performances from Weirdo, Truman Falls, Postcode, Beek, On A Friday, Ingie, Mimi and Nicky and Kin and Blue John and Papa Cass.

They were all interviewed, as were Ballagroove Records representatives and Ben O'Hare from Planes Over Paris.

Christy is also hoping to talk to others in the music scene such as Kit Nelson and Adam Berry about their artwork for bands, Christian Clague about the alternative dance scene, Katie Lawrence about the traditional/Celtic scene, Anna Goldsmith, Christine Collister and also Rob Cross about moving to Cardiff to pursue his musical ambitions.

The Isle of Man has a fantastic music scene with many bands and solo acts playing on a regular basis. There's everything from heavy metal, to indie, to folk, blues, dance and everything in between.

There are numerous bands and solo artists writing their own material and a few bands have toured the UK, while others have released singles and albums and many have supported more established bands as well as playing at prestigious venues.

Back Door Slam have toured America countless times over the past year and played at the top US festivals.
