MANX Pink Floyd tribute band Pigs On The Wing will play their first gig since TT 2006 tonight (Saturday).
The concert – in the Royal Hall of the Villa Marina, Douglas – is to raise money for TT sidecar racers Nick Crowe and Mark Cox who were seriously injured in an incident in this year's races.

Pigs on the Wing are Pete Williamson (vocals, guitars), James Craig (guitars), Roger Leece (drums/percussion), Dick Raine (bass) and Brian Foley (saxophone). Ian 'Catty' Corlett (keyboards) will be returning from London to play at the benefit while Shaz Cleator will feature on vocals.

The band are known for their brilliant musicanship and faithful recreation of Pink Floyd material and it will be a night not to be missed.

Andy James will be managing the event, Iain Rive is also returning to the Island to run the sound for the gig and Justin McMullin of ELS will be providing the lighting.

The support on the night is from local atmospheric indie band Planes Over Paris – featuring the talents of Paul Salisbury (guitar and vocals), Ben O'Hare (drums), Steph Gomaa (keyboards and vocals) and Martyn Cain (bass).

The band are no strangers to the Royal Hall stage after a memorable performance at the Villa in August supporting the Kaiser Chiefs.

What Where When said about that gig: 'The show began with Manx band Planes Over Paris taking to the stage. Well worthy of the support slot they are one of the Island's best bands and their original numbers are highly atmospheric.

'They did themselves proud and they flew the flag for the fantastic musicians we have in the Isle of Man.'

The gig has been organised by Jonno Gollow of JonnoPromotions who has been responsible for a number of concerts in the Island this year including the Isle of Man GuitarFest.

Pigs on the Wing is the name of a two-part song by Pink Floyd featured on their 1977 concept album, Animals. It starts and wraps up the album.

Thanks to support from Earystane Quarry, Outdoor Power and Plant, MANN Construction, Tel's Skips and Shaun and Sally Craig, a significant part of the venue hire for the event has been paid. All the musicians, the crew, lighting company, the promoter and graphic designer are giving their time free of charge to make this an entirely not for profit event and are hopeful that a significant sum will be raised. This will allow the vast majority of the funds raised from ticket sales to go to Nick and Mark and their families.

Tickets are £10 and are available from the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, Douglas, or by ringing the ticket hotline on 600555.
