Police have bailed a man who was arrested following posts on the internet.
In the early hours of Tuesday, officers said an individual was assisting police with inquiries after a widely-shared social media post.
The man has since been bailed until later in the year as investigations continue.
A spokesman said: ’We would like to confirm that, upon being made aware of the social media post from a group named the "Elite Team", a 55-year-old male has been arrested and is currently in custody for offences committed under Manx law.
’The Isle of Man Constabulary have to work within the current laws of the Isle of Man in these matters.
’A new Sexual Offences Bill is currently being progressed through Tynwald to become law and this new legislation will bring the Island closer in line with other jurisdictions.
’The Isle of Man Constabulary is committed to keeping people of the Isle of Man safe and we recognise the emotive nature of social media posts like the one being shared has on the island’s residents.
’However, sharing and commenting on these posts could negatively prejudice evidence and any future court cases.’
