A biker has been airlifted to the UK for treatment following a crash on the Mountain Road.

Police say the collision, involving a car and a motorcycle, happened at around 2.15pm on Friday, in the area of the Mountain Mile on the A18.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Man Constabulary confirmed the biker received emergency treatment at the scene before being transferred to the UK as a result of their injuries.

The Mountain Road remained closed for several hours while investigating officers worked at the scene.

Police have issued an appeal for any further witnesses to the incident to come forward.

The force said officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Craig, who is overseeing the investigation, said officers had already spoken to a number of people who were at the scene.

However, investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone they have not yet spoken to who witnessed the incident or the manner of driving of a black vehicle on the Mountain Road shortly beforehand.

DCI Craig said: ‘We have already spoken to a number of people who were present at the scene of the collision, but we are particularly keen to hear from anyone that we may not yet have spoken to who either witnessed the collision taking place, or who witnessed the manner of driving of a black motor vehicle on the Mountain Road between 1.45pm and 2.15pm this afternoon.

‘I’d also like to take this opportunity to appeal for anyone who may have Dash Cam or Go-Pro footage of either the collision itself, or of the manner of driving of this black vehicle to please make contact with our Roads Policing Unit.’
