A 25-year-old Douglas motorist has appeared in court charged with drink-driving.

Callum Bratty, of Derby Road, was represented in court by duty advocate Paul Glover, who said that the defendant was currently on police bail until November 6, while the result of a blood test, which had been sent to the UK, was awaited, relating to a potential additional allegation of driving under the influence of drugs.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis said that the waiting time for tests to be returned can sometimes now be nearer to six months than the previous estimate of three months.

The case has been adjourned until September 17, when it is hoped an update on the blood test can be obtained.

Bail was granted.
