A drug-driving motorist who has been unable to complete community service due to ill health has been re-sentenced to probation.

Ross O’Neill was originally sentenced to 150 hours’ community service and 12 months probation last November.

That was for driving under the influence of cocaine and its metabolite, benzoylecgonine, as well as possessing 0.1 grams of cocaine.

Recently, a request was made by probation to revoke the community service order, saying that O’Neill, of Kerroo Coar, Peel, was unable to complete it due to health reasons.

He was represented in court by duty advocate Paul Glover, who said the defendant had complied as best as he could.

Magistrates issued a new 12-month probation order, replacing the previous sentence.
