A 24-year-old from Patrick has denied an assault causing actual bodily harm against his partner.

Liam Gregory Caine is accused of hitting the woman with a motorcycle helmet on March 10.

Police were called to the defendant’s home, at Glen Maye Road, after receiving a 999 call from his then-partner.

She initially said she had fallen, but then told police that her partner had hit her on the head with a motorbike helmet.

The woman suffered a 5cm superficial laceration to the scalp, with part of the wound having to be glued.

Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood declined summary court jurisdiction and the case will be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on September 15.

Bail continues.
